I bought a rug that was printed from a photograph to match my tiled floor. The design team helped me to replicate the photograph to fit the rug so that it matched the tiling. I was very impressed with both the help and the fabulous product received. Everyone who sees it comments on it and couldn’t believe it had been possible to do! It looks amazing!!

Fine detail was impressive

Before placing my order, I had been concerned whether fine detail would reproduce on a smaller sized rug or if detail would get 'lost' in the pile, or have that pixelated jacquard look – but in the end the finished product turned out amazing, with a high degree of detail and vibrant colours. I opted for the 'shimmer velvet' finish and it exceeded all expectations! Also, I would say the online visual errs on the conservative side – my finished rug contained a bit more around the edges than the mock-up displays.

How we make it

Made to order

All printed area rugs are handmade to order in London, UK, carefully cutting and hand stitching to ensure the finish is of the highest standards. The base is made from our anti-slip latex sponge, with a jute rug binder to give it extra strength. The pile is made from either our Velvet Shimmer or Marbled Velvet fabric which slides over skin effortlessly with no resistance. Our specialist printing process goes deep into the velvet fibres, so your design won't crack or peel. The surface has a lustrous sheen, reflecting the light nicely. Quite simply, it feels and looks divine. The natural cotton fringe is hand sewn into place should you desire to include this style option: We offer fringing options for both or just one edge of your area custom rug. 
 

Please note: Our Velvet Shimmer fabric has been tested for colour fastness and abrasion testing. It passes both standard tests with flying colours. (BS EN ISO 12497:1998 Abrasion testing Scores 4. BS EN ISO 105-X12:2002 Colour Fastness Test Scores 4-5). The printing processes we use may cause a slight odour which emits from the base/back of the custom rug. This is perfectly normal and will air out in a few days. 

 
Care: As with most area custom rugs or carpets, we recommend regularly vacuuming your custom photo rug. Your custom printed rug is not suitable for the washing machine - even if it is a small bedside rug. If your find your custom rug has a spill or stain, gently wipe it down with a damp cloth. Try to avoid using your photo rug too near fireplaces or burning coals/wood.

Design tips

Style yourself

You can upload your own photos, beautiful patterns to match your home décor, use our Image Library in the design tool or add some text to make a truly unique area customised rug to complement your house furnishings. You can also create photo collage rugs - simply select several images and choose your ready-made montage style. The free tool to create collage rugs will help you to place all your favourite images nicely all over the product. We always suggest keeping the edges of your design free of any important details as this might get lost in the hem. 

Add beautifully classic colourful patterns to your custom printed rug and add a cotton fringe to either side for a wonderfully Persian or Moroccan feel for your interior. Or, gift your friends and loved ones a beautiful photo rug featuring a beautiful picture of you together - ideal for the bedside table or even their office. 

You could even create a custom printed rug showcasing the whole family with a title such as 'The Smith Family' so guests are welcomed as soon as they enter the home.
